Just thought I'd share a few pictures from that sock knitting class we took. Last Saturday was the last of 3 sessions. We were all sad that it was over! We all had our socks finished or almost finished and felt confident enough to start another pair on our own. I've already knitted a baby sock for my cousin and started on a pair for Brian. The project I'm working on in the picture is a large felted tote bag. That was technically a Christmas present for Brian's Mom only it still isn't quite finished.
This afternoon I'm started a new class to make "felted clogs". They are like thick slip on slippers. The class is only two sessions and I thought it would be a great way to replace all the slippers Brian had that Maci chewed up. I'm also hoping to meet some new people since my Mom and my friend Steph were the only other people in the sock class.
What activity do you use as an excuse to get together with those you love? Have any knitting projects you want to share?

My mom and I went to an organic gardening class this morning, hosted by the garden center near my family's farm. It was a beginner class, so I kind of felt like I already knew everything... after all when he was talking about soil structure and biology I was thinking "Hey, I hope my lessons on this are less boring! But then again, I use models and activities, and he's just talking."
Still, it was a good excuse to get out and visit their greenhouses. Even though I'm starting pansies (that are teeny tiny right now), I couldn't resist buying one of theirs that's already in bloom.
I don't think there are any knitting classes anywhere around here, but I'm not sure. I'm pretty much self taught (meaning: cast on, decide it's wrong, rip off, cast on, wrong again, rip off... repeat until you get it right).
FD - That organic gardening class sounds great to me. I wish they had something like that around here. Although it is becoming more popular there still isn't a ton of interest in stuff like that. What a great excuse to get together with your Mom. As for knitting, my Mom and I had a similar strategy of learning as we go. It is so nice to learn the proper way and all the little tips & tricks. Much less frustrating!
Gail - You should definitely sign up! I went to yesterday's class alone. I was nervous at first but all the ladies were a blast to be around and I didn't want to leave at the end. I don't think you'll regret it, although your pocketbook might. I usually don't spend much money but this is getting expensive! I'm trying to remind myself that it usually costs me less to knit a gift than to buy one, and these gifts are much higher quality.
How fun! I juat started learning ot knit last week and I am loving it. I can see how it can be addictive!
Jennifer - Yeah, isn't it great? I am really enjoying it.
